Just a vent post more than anything. Only recently moved into our new house. Kitchen (and utility room/toilet that runs off it) has(had) some lovely lament floor boards down.

Couple of weeks ago I set my RO unit up and all was well.

Last night I go home and go to the bathroom. As im in there I notice the floor is soaked (though I didn't notice this before walking in). Thinking one of the kids had just been washing their hands or playing in the sink I mopped it up.

After walking back out I turn around to see that the floor is soaked, again!

Turns out the RO unit (in the utility room. Had been leaking. Had water under all the floor boards in the utility room and toilet and partly into the kitchen. Stuff in the toilet looks totally screwed now and utility room bit don't look great either. Took about 40 minutes to mop up (and there was still water squishing out when you walked on it). Not sure what to do with the RO unit now.

Well the laminate and the underlay are screwed, is it concrete or timber under there? if its timber you may well want to consider lifting the laminate so the floorboards and joists don`t rot.

Where was the Ro unit leaking? is it just a seal ring that has gone?

oh no!
not having uch luck between us are we lol

i was lucky with the saltwater, managed to get it up and clean with tap water before the wood floor got really #71###ed and stuff.

i feel your pain buddy

Good point Ian! I think the floors underneath are concrete but not 100% sure so will check it out.

I'm just going to have to leave it as it is at the moment as I don't have the money spare to do anything with it. Once we have got a bit of spare cash again though I will try and find some matching stuff and lay that down. Just lucky it didn't seep into the kitchen as well.

I think its just the seal of the DI compartment that has gone. Going to set the RO unit up somewhere also and maybe have it sitting in a watertight box just in case it happens again.

OH Nooooooooooooo!!!
Make sure you don’t switch the RO unit back on again by accident Barney and flood the kitchen floor as well
Otherwise you will have to put a claim in on the house insurance and have the whole lot replaced {utility room, kitchen and bathroom} in brand spanking new laminate :good:
