Hi,

Its been a while since I last posted, but have been reading the threads daily especially anything to do with cycling.

My tank has now been through the ammonia spike and is now reading 0 mg/l, the Nitrite reading has been at about 1 - 1.5 mg/l for about 9 days so far, and the Nitrate reading has been rising rapidly over the past 4 -5 days to about 300 mg/l.

I guess that the Nitrates should begin to fall very shortly ?

Do I need to do a water change asap to bring the Nitrates down in the meantime ?

Cheers

If you have fish in there, yes you do need to do a water change to bring nitrIte right down and nitrAte to under 50.

NitrItes can take a while to drop but they should do so eventualy.

Once ammonia and nitrIte are both 0, aim to keep nitrAtes under 20 and doing a weekly 25% water change should help you achieve this.
