I saw these in my lfs today and I am very interested in them. Does anyone keep them. I read a short article on pkf (due to be published soon) that these fish are nearly extinct in their natural habitat which is a shame to hear.

When i asked the shop owner what they where he had no idea, except that he got a "batch" of them in earlier in the week (took me about 2 mins on google to find out what they where).

They look like nothing i've ever seen to me. Their body and colours resemble a rainbow but the rear fins are something different. Like a giant guppies tail lol.

I would be interested in keeping these in the future and was wondering if anyone has them, and what their characters are like, nature etc.

I won't be buying them from the shop that i saw them in as he is selling dyed fish, which i found out the wrong way.

Thanks

Bedotia geayi are a really nice fish that you can see for sale fomr time to time. I dont keep any myself, but their charecter is just like other rainbows; active and inquisitive. Naturally they need a shoal with both sexes in, but they are peaceful and work well with most fish species. They get to a maximum of 15cm (more likely 12) and eat anything you care to offer them. They can be spawned easily with the same method as other rainbows.
