I know alot of people think the beanie baby boxes are too small...but I know alot of breeders use them instead of jars (the boxes hold aprox. 56oz btw). So for those who don't agree with or like them...I'm not asking you too (personal opinon/choice and all) but this is for those who do :).

Anyways, I know on Ebay they go for upwards of $25+ for a lot of 12 and then you gotta pay shipping on top of that...makes them quite expensive. And if you find them individually at stores..they can be $4 a piece  .

Well I'm always on the lookout for a bargain and I think I came across some.

1st place:

The cases are $1.50 each. There wasn't a description or a picture on teh page..so I e-mailed the owner and asked about them. They are the 4x4x7 with a snap on lid type, so I thought for $1.50 each that wasn't a bad deal at all.

If you buy a lot of 12 that is $18.00 and the shipping price is $9.99 (UPS ground) for a grand total of $27.99. I just thought that was great..seeing how on Ebay they start at that...then you have to pay shipping on top.

Although, you don't have to buy 12...you can buy only 1 (I just bought 4 myself) but the shipping starts at $5.99..so it only makes sense to buy more at a time.

2nd place:

Sells them in cases of 12 only...but they are only $15.50 plus $5.56 shipping (UPS ground).

Oh yeah..I think they are great myself. Mine are quite comfy and content in their Beanie Boxes (Beanie BUDDY boxes are even better....but they are like $10 each lol  ). I found some 3-4" silk plants and put them in the back corner, along with a underwater backdrop (wraps all the way around, give about a 1 1/2" section on either side, so no need to card them either) in each box...the fish are lovin it lol. (especially the red plakat Kelly gave me ;))

I ordered from the 1st place...then I found the second place lol..dern it. :fun: I woulda ordered 12 for the $15 if I'd seen it first lol sure thing, never hurts to have extra's (I have been known to drop (and break) them while cleaning them lol :*) )

Here are some of mine (I have acquired more since these photos were taken though lol).

when you click on the LABS event link, be sure to read all the captions under the pictures. one is particular is a hoot!

The 4x4x7 is in actuality 4" wide x 4" deep x 7 3/4" tall ;) So they are pretty tall actually.

My females are now housed in a 4x4x5 glass inch containers they make for Betta's here. Will keep them there till I figure out where I can set up a community tank.

Are those beanies acrylic. Sure we we had them here.

Yes Ral, they are acrylic. Seamless acrylic. They are very nice to have around indeed lol. 4x4x5 is kinda short...but would of course work in a pinch.

I would SO break those glass ones lol...they get slippery when I wash them lol...I usually drop 2-3 each time...only broke 3 over a 2 month period though.:lol; :*)

Yup 4x4x5 is small even for the small girls I got in there right now... but hey actually market them as storage for fully grown male betta's

Personally I wouldn't keep bettas in a beanie box, although if I do start keeping and maybe breeding them I have two with beanies in that can be changed into betta tanks in a jiffy.
