Hey everyone,

I try to make everything as easy as possible and want to buy a battery gravel cleaner, Has anyone used one of these before?
Should I invest in one or save my money?

:good:

Why bother? Once you start the siphon going on a regular gravel cleaner, it's pretty much automatic. Sounds like a gimmick to me.

If your gravel needs cleaning, you probably could do with doing a water change anyway, IMO. I had one years ago (well, it was an air driven one, but the principle is the same!) and I used it a few times, but soon gave up on it. Of course, that was in the days when water changes weren't seen as beneficial as they are now.

Battery gravel cleaner are a waste of time - you will get better flow using a manual syphon.

My opinion differs I use the ehiem quick vac pro and I swear by it

Ha ha ha ha ha  I tried one of these things in the early days in a well planted community tank. What a train wreck!!!

Guiding it around while keeping the capture net (sock) in the water turned my tank into a washing machine

What it collected in a 5 minute session I now collect in 5 seconds while doing a siphon gravel vac.

Get the picture? Waste of money and time :X

I disagree on what has been said by most already,

A good example of one being used correctly is after ive done my water changes ive ended up shifted the flow of water around, this then seems to reveal a load of debris ive missed on the siphoning.

So to aviod the hassle of then re-siphong yet again just to collect it up, its surley better to use a mini vac for this job ( it collects the debris without the water change ).

I have no idea why anyone would use a Battery system to change water as thats not what i think they are designed for.

The eheim one is great btw, Infact anything seems to be great by eheim :good:
