Barred topminnow (Quintana atrizona)...
A small seethru livebearer from Cuba. It's also one of the smallest livebearers there is. Furthermore, it's a superfetative livebearer.
First offered in an American magazine in 1933 and first described by C.L. Hubbs in 1934.

Heteropaternal offspring. Fantastic! This occur in humans too on rare occasions.

Correct! But not just such livebearers and humans. Technically it can happen in all mammals.

Great to see these photos. Thanks.

Do you know what magazine in 1933? It wasn't THE AQUARIUM (Innes). I have a complete run and just checked the '33 volume. The species did make it into the first edition of his book, though, in 1935.

Not sure which particular magazine that was. I've got the Innes book as well.
