Hi

I had an RO bare bones installed at home on Friday and at the moment I'd be lucky to get 10 gallons per month let alone 10 gallons per day. It's just dripping into the tank slowly.

Is this normally for a new installation at this time of year or is something wrong ?

Also I was wondering what people are getting flow rate anyway at this time of year in the uK ?

Thanks

Karl.

When you see figures for RO units, they usually quote a production rate at a certain supply pressure. In most cases, this is WELL above mains water pressure, hence the production rate for a simple installation is usually a fraction of what is quoted. You can get pumps which boost the pressure, and hence the production rate, but these also cost to buy and to run of course.

The first units I had was supposed to produce 75 liters per day, in fact, like yours, the outlet just produced a steady drip. I guess it made 10-12 liters per day at mains pressure. What I did was connected the outlet to a 100m roll of airline and lead it to the tank in the house that was being serviced. I'd drop the required amount of water out and let it fill up again over a few days, then move onto the next tank. (Works best if you live alone!).

My current unit is also mains pressure, but has 4 membranes which I can switch in or out of circuit. With all four valves open, it produces a steady flow, maybe 70-80 liters a day.

doh!

That's really bad if they rate these units so unreallistically for normal household tap conditions! What hope do we have of getting the right unit for the job ? I may write to Kent to complain if it doesn't get anywhere near the level it claims.

do you know if it's possible to add a second cannister to the bare bones setup, to up the output if it turns out to be no good ?

!LOL! :D And there was me getting fed up with my RO plant 'only' delivering 44 litres per minute! I even wrote the customer a quote for two new membranes!!!! Can you imagine the reject on that lot!

Aaaarghhh!!

7 days into having the Kent Bare bones and am I getting 10 gallons per day ?

No...

1.4 litres every 24 hours!

Is this really all I can expect in a hard water area at this time of year in the UK ?

What unit should I have to get a reallistic 100 litres per week ?
