Hey all,
I'm moving away from a dwarf cichlid tank and want to put in some barbs. It's a 29 gallon with corydoras. How many and of which kind of barb should I get?

Cherry barbs.

Id do 6-10, but stick to 1-2 males for the entire group, rest females. Will reduce any aggressive behaviors and keep the peace. They also are schooling fish so 6 is the minimum.

Males will show pinkish to deep red colouration.

Females are a lovely orange with brown stripes. (Male in the middle here)

Check out pentazona barbs. My personal favorite. Just as striking as tiger barbs, but without the world-domination tendencies, just a really nice fish. A few gold barbs would look cool in a 29, too.

Tinfoil barbs are right out in a 29, though. ha ha ha

Very nice! I like the 5 stripes!

I'd say its very important that you get the male/female ratio right, too many males and they'll start dominating the whole tank, including the cories
