Most Cyprinids include vegetable matter in their natural diet. None of those you mention are "lawn mowers" though. The odd nibble on something soft. If you haven't tried, put some shelled peas in and watch the barbs go mad over them. I feed peas 1-2 times a week.
More important, is what kind of fluorescent lamps, on what size/type of tank. Most live plants in a regular shaped and common sized tank require at least 2 Watts per gallon of full spectrum, (5000K - 6700K), fluorescent light turned on for 10-12 hours a day. This give "Medium" light. There are lower light plants of course, but the choice of species drops dramatically as light levels fall. Java Fern, Anubias species, some Crypts.
If you can get some more details, post in the Plants section, we'll point you at something suitable.
