Hey, would have put this in emergencies but it wouldnt let me!!! My two barbs are acting very strangely, one is lying upside-down on the bottom, so i assume it has died. can any1 give suggestions to why? the other one is doing this also but before that it was spinning around, u no like the jets du on displays. This is very saddening as they are my first fish and so quite anoyying. :( :( :(

please reply asap as i assume time matters greatly, thanks a LOT!!! Help is needed. . ..

one also appears to have slightly 'furry' looking underside. this mat be because the image is blurred as it is lying behind the filter rod though. the other one is now lying on its side, mouth still moving. not sure if the other ones mouth is.

one is now lying on its side, still breathing, the other looks like it has a 'furry' underside, but might no as it is lying behind the clear filter rod?!?!

Size of tank and what other occupants.
Filtration and how often do you wash it out and how.
How much in the way are you doing water changes and are you adding dechlorinator. Do you gravel vac?
Do you test your water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph? If not get a kit or take some water to a pet store for them to test.

In the mean time do a 50% water change with temperature matched dechlorinated water.

thanks a lot for the validating info. i am now a member and can access all forum areas, mucho gracias!!! :D

Unfortunately the fish are dead, apparently because the water turned a dark red instead of yellow, and the employees had never seen it so red! @ least they had a new experience and it was my dads fault not mine. it was from over-feeding and they have given us 'safe water' - creates more good bacteria, we have more bad than good i think... :/

The two loaches have survived quite happily though, probz have higher tolerance.
