Tinfoil barbs grow to 10-12 inches long and don't belong in tanks because they live in groups and you would need a huge tank for them.

Yep. Tinfoil barbs are one of those fish that are generally best left in the wild. (see also bala sharks) I'm not sure I understand the comparison to bosemani rainbows; they have nothing in common except fins, gills, and they're both kind of pretty. But a ten foot tank (assuming it's normally proportioned in depth and height) would indeed be OK for a school of tin foil barbs.
