4 of my mum's Green Tiger barbs died about 2 months ago of whitespot only 2 survived; 1 male and 1 female. The male always chased the female and shredded her tail fin so i gave refuge to the female in my 50 gal, she was in a pretty bad state so she never nipped another fish. Recently my mum's remaining barb had been nipping the other fish in her community so i moved it in with the female today (she'd been settled in my 50 gal for a month). A huge face fight went on, initiated by the female who was now a resident of the tank, probably because he was new to the scene, do you think this will occur regularly? as im now scared one may get hurt :/ but theyve got no-where else to go :(

any advice would be much appreciated

Tiger barbs, green or other wise need to be kept in goups of 6 or more to even out the aggression and fin nipping, Add another 4-6 and see if theres an improvement. Just out of interest hw do you know thay are a male and female?

both same age but one is a lot broader than the other, (assuming this is the male)

Tiger Barbs kept singly or in very small groups frequently show extremely aggresive behaviour. In pairs, the male will usually harras the female to death.
