Love him? Hate him?

I didn't really know much about him until I watched Exit Through The Gift Shop, a month or so ago.

I've been looking at his work online and just ordered a couple of his books.

Personally, I think that his work is fantastic. But I know that others aren't quite as fond.

Just wondering what the kind folk of Fish Forums think of him...

Fairly sure I have one of his books and really love his work too :D

Not keen, and IMO his work will prove to be a poor long term investment (a lot have already been stung). I am actually an art dealer, I always say to buy what you like but when art gets expensive it's always wise to put your money into a safe-ish bet. Sadly most urban/contemporary art is risky.

I've known of him and his work, never really thought much about it... just spent an hour looking through images of his work and some of them are absolutely brilliant! I'm not sure I like the idea of having copies of his work, the best part of most of it is *where* the work is.

Can't help feeling it is vandalism to an extent but hey.. I would rather see that than what other would/have done! And how he has edited other peoples terrible graffiti is hilarious, though not necessarily family friendly lol

I love his work. I think one of his pieces popped up in San Diego awhile ago, but they couldn't confirm it, which makes me wonder how much of his stuff is really his? I also kind of love the mystery that surrounds him,

Banksy isn't just one person. That's why you never see who he is. Banksy is a construct invented by three art students from Brighton many years ago, two of which are still active doing the actual art (or to give it its proper title, graffiti).
My brother is friends with the third member of "Banksy" who stopped participating about four years ago. He's now a hypnotherapist, apparently.
