i was wondering if this would work, i've done some research and it seems they get large enough (around 5-6') so it may not be wise to put one of these in a 20g

It may but the Puffers will probably rip it's fins to shreds. Puffers are active in the day and Banjos are nocturnal so it will be picked on during the day most likely.

Banjo catfish are quite possibly the most inactive fish in the world so there is a good chance that the puffers will never even notice they are there. Lithril has just got 2 banjo cats to go with his south american puffers to see if it can work amd as far as i know so far it has. Dont worry about the max size of the banjo's too much, they are very slow growers taking years to get to full size and are so inactive they may only move a few inches in a day.

As long as the cats have somewhere to hide during the day when they are sleeping, you shouldn't have any problems, imo.

I have two bristlenose pl*cos (excellent algaevores) and one Banjo who never get bothered by my fearsome foursome of dwarf puffers.

The Banjo spends his daylight hours totaly buried in the sand with only his lips visible so the puffers don't even know he's there!

great that will work out very well!

i have sand substrate with lots of cabes/plants so it should do ok in those conditions

I Just bought 2 Banjos they are 2" long and they are the coolest cats I have ever seen.

Now I talked to the Manager of the Shop to make sure i got the right info, and he has assured me that they will be ok with fish in my sig.

I told him If they eat anything then i'm coming right back and will want the eaten fish replaced. He has said Ok to this, As I have been there customer for over 6 years.

They are also well chuffed that Emerhald My DT Butterfly Betta - is A Rare Fish.
They Wish they had not sold him to me now.

Do Banjos bury themselves int he gravel.
AS 1 of them has done this last night and i am getting worried.
He has not come back out yet, the other 1 is sitting next to him and his tail is visible.

I have named them Banjo and Kazooei.
Can't tell them apart yet.

Yes. Banjos will attempt to bury themselves during the day and will not move at all.

They will also bury themselves if they feel threatened or stressed and may stay this way for some time. Don't worry about them not eating for a few days, as they are so inactive their food needs are very low.

Remember to feed them meaty foods such as bloodworm just before you leave them in darkness at night as they will never eat during daytime.

thanks for that.

I Hope they are ok. as they are so funky looking.

And the best bit is you can't see them unless you really look hard as they blend into the Gravel so well.

OMG

They Look that good when adult.
How long has it takent o reach that size.

Mine has been feasting on bloodworms. But they have gone nuts for the algae wafers.

They have nibbled on the Spirulina Tablets as well. Added them last night and the difference in the fish is huge. They are so much more active and there colors have increased in intesity.

They are Gobbling the Hikari Tetra Pellets.

He's not all that big really, only about four inches from nose to tip of tail.

I've never actualy seen him eat, I feed him just before lights out.
