some of u have seem my crown tail boy a couple times, his head used to be completely black just like most all of his body, but now it is brown. is he balding? is this bad? he's still dead sexy but i dunno if its a bad thing or not -_-

Balding? Hmm, unless he has fur (in which case you should be worried!), I don't think that's quite possible ;)

The color change could just be something happening as he ages. I've had several fish go through pretty dramatic color changes when they grow up. However, if he's displaying any signs of ill health in addition, I'd look into seeing if he's sickly.

he eats normal, acts normal, nothing sems wrong, just in the last month he seems to have his head change colors, prolly jus nothing :dunno:

Amos developed a large purple spot on his side (he's got a mauve body) from the top of his bod to the bottom. I've decided that since nothing else seems to be ailing him except a mild case of fin rot, it's probably just a color change he's going thru.

If he goes completely pale in that area, tho - that can be a bad sign.

Yea, sometimes they do change colors. For example, my betta Tim grew up to have some little black markings on his scales. Lug is developing lovely green scales on his flanks. And Dickey's bright pink torso has dulled with age. Is your fish either very young and growing up, or very old and getting... well... old? This could account for the color change.

when i hd him shipped from tiland back in july he was 3 months old, so yea i guess u can say hes young or middle aged. a color change is probably all it is. thanx for the help

I got a fish from Marriane back in December...at the time I got him he was green, then a month later he developed his butterfly pattern....I got to looking at him today..and he's now a loverly shade of aquamarine blue lol. He did come from Turquoise lines though...I guess it just took him a while to turn the color he was going too. :D

When I first got him
