what the name says,, are balas compatable with cherry barbs? are they compatable with cardinal tetras? im picking one of the two...

AND people can appreciate the fact that i put it in the correct forum even though it may get less posts, id rather not make people mad.

Cardinals are a shoaling fish and should be kept in groups of at least 6. Cherry Barbs are solitary fish best kept as a pair, or trio 1m 2f, 2 males together in a small tank may fight.

Balas are BIG fish. Also need to be in a group. As they can easily grow to well over 12"/300mm you are going to need a big tank. Even a docile fish of that size would regard a small tetra or barb as a snack, with no aggressive intention.

To answer your question, I guess neither are ultimately compatible. What size tank are you looking at?

O and it is a 55 gallon tank

A 55 is not really big enough for Bala's, let alone anything else.

Bala sharks are not actually sharks.. dont be fooled bythe name.. they are not aggresive :D

I done 3 days research on just bala sharks..

ye, as lateral said balas do grow to a huge size but at a slow rate.
I think they reach about 6" at a pretty quick rate and then slow down from there.
In a 55 u can keep a 3-4" bala for about 1 - 2 years before getting a larger tank.

I believe balas should be compatible with cardinals as long as its a large shoal and a decent amount of hiding.

O and generally its better if balas are kept in trio's.
