Bala Shark?

Kk, so I can't return my bala shark to my lps, so what tank would be suitable for a Bala? Don't they like shoals? All I can get hooked up is with a 55g.

I think 55g will be more sufficent for this very acive fish which does shoal, I think you can get 3 in there with a lot of open swimming space. These fish will also jump out of the aquarium!

I disagree. Bala sharks get HUGE 16 inches in not undeard of. A 55 gallon tank can't support a group of bala sharks adequately. Granted, people keep these shy sharks in small tanks because the pet store didn't tell them how big they really get.

I've heard a 55 is the absolute minimum. Then I've heard it's not good to even keep them at the home aquarium level. I'd say 75-90 is the smallest for them to be happy. they work well in groups of 5 or so. 3 can work but 5+ is the recommended.

Bala like to shoal, so three minimum. you would need a 6x2 foot plus, and 200 gallon minimum

To who? I know no one with a large tank.

+ If I give back the bala shark to my fish store, they said they had no room or they'd be heavily overstocked. dunno,

I fully understand, believe me. but i have to suggest you offer it for re-homing on this site! or perhaps, if you have access to one, offer it to another LFS.

Another LFS? Not a chance.

Highway jam + 30 - 90 minutes just to get to the nearest lps, excluding the one that's near me. (Petcetera/Big Al's)

One is three cities away, other is around four.
