Went into pets at home today to look at live plants, and went to have a look at the fish too. There were 6 Siamese fighters in the tiny 5x5 tanks connected with the same filter. 4 out of the 6 looked nearly dead, lying on the gravel on their sides with gills barely moving! One was swimming into the glass and sinking and there was one boy who looked like he'd just arrived. Gorgeous lilac and blue colour, as of then looked healthy.

The staff didn't seem to care that their fish weren't well and were dying, some tanks had dead fish in and they were leaving them to be eaten!!

I had to bring the 'healthy' betta boy home, couldn't risk that he'd end up like the others! I had a spare plastic 19L tank up the attic and some Caribsea black moon sand left in a bag from my 120L, so he is living in there for now until I can get him a permanent home and get it cycled!! Until then I will be doing daily changes.

Is it just pets at home in the isle of man with this problem?? Makes my blood boil!!!

no its not they are the same everywhere i dont likke going near the place now after watching documentaries on tv an youtube about where they get their fish and small pets its shocking how they force breed the animals and things like that grrrrr

There is one near to where I live, after a row I had in there I no longer go in, read a good few bad reports about them on other forums.

I went to the one near me, and they wouldnt even sell me any fish because they thought they know better than me. They said my tank wasnt ready for any fish yet after I did my fishless cycle, so I just left and went to the lfs bought about 26 fish and all but the small pleco survived.
The thing is they had dead fish in there tanks and about 5 of there tanks was being treated. I sent the head office a complaint and no reply yet this was like 2 months ago, wont be going back there for anything anyway, there loss not mine.

Can I just remind members that, due to possible legal repercussions, we can't 'name and shame' on this forum.

All shops have to be judged on their own merits anyway; some shops, in some chains, can be very good, others not so good.
