I forgot to close the lid on my tank, and being the curious little devil that he is he just had to go exploring. Well I then found him dried up on the floor. After all the trouble I wen through for him. :-(

Here are some pasts topics about him.

My tank seems so empty with out him. :-(

I was also wondering is there any kind of bichir that could go in my 30 u.s. gallon as a replacement?

I'm so sorry to hear that. :( Unfortunately it is a well-known habit that ropefish just cannot resist jumpng out of their tanks. We had one several years ago and never established exactly how he got out. We only found him after we eventually moved the tank and his little dried up body was down the back of the cabinet.

I don't know much about bichirs, but I believe the senegals are one of the smaller species and quite popular fellows too. Don't be tempted to buy too many when you see how cute looking they are at 3 inches. :D

30g is going to cramp any full grown species of bichir.
The smallest species max out around 1 foot.
Also, depending on tankmates, it may be an especially tight squeeze.

They Can Live Up to 8 Hours out of water due to a special Swim Bladder.

Mine did the same thing and I found him all crispy on the Floor. My SIster cried for an entire day (she is 9) because she liked him.

Not to mention I spent 20$ on him!

Well Sorry to Hear about your ropefish, and Good Luck Next Time!
