the heater wasnt working properly.... the water was really cold.. i turned the ''thermostat heater like 1/2 turn... which should have raised the temp maybe 3'.... and it went from probably 65 to 95... and now all my fish are belly up

3 red eye tetra.. 1 i think was pregnant.
3 neons
3 silver tips
2 platy
1 balloon molly
1 marble molly
1 green/orange swordtail

and now this room stinks like burnt fish... what a pain ... i feel so bad too theyre all the reject fish.. they were all in the 20 with guppies but i decided to put guppies only in the 20 ... so all these fish were banished to the 8 gallon... always got fed and always had water changes and everything.. it just really makes me mad..i try to look on the bright side and say.. at least i have a free tank to put fish in :S

hiya, sorry 2 hear abt ur poor lil wishies :rip:

all i can suggest is give the heater a trial run in a tank with NO FISH! and see if it manages to maintain the heat.

mayb the power cud have gone off ?

u cud try and see if the plug was all the way in, in only takes a slight touch 4 it 2 cum out sumtimes.

as i sed, :rip: fishies.

i hope u have better luck next time!

Yer man sorry that sucks :/ why not try another heater so that you don't get a repeat performance. I've found visi-therms to be really good heaters and pretty accurate aswell

Just curious about the heater. Is this the type that has the preset temps? If not, when you turn it up to increase the temp, and when it reaches the desired temp, you have to turn it down just enough to make the pilot light turn off. Maybe you knew that? :)
