I bought a guppie a day ago absoloutly beautiful, the best i've ever seen amazing colours and everything, it was even pregnant. I could not help myself so I bought it. It didn't look too good, swimming near the top of the tank. And today it died. I noticed the gills were red. Should I do a large water change and hope for the best, I hope I havent introduced any dieseses, any thoughts? :/

Sorry to hear about your guppy, VCG. I'd advise to stay away from fish that don't look healthy. At least keep them in quarantine before introducing them to a community tank if you still want to give them a chance. But I guess that advice isn't too helpful now... :/

At least the guppy wasn't in the tank for very long. I have to admit I'm not sure about what to do... I'd just try not to stress the fish, to keep them from being at a greater risk of getting ill.

Ok...Remove the fish if you haven't alreayd I presume you have :D ok just keep an eye on yoru other fish it could have spread I hope not. If so get appropriate med. ;)

My fingers are crossed but my fish are starting to act wierd (swimming near top or bottom) my yellow guppies tail has got some red in it, i'l keep an eye on them

This is a good situation to bung some Melafix in. It's a soluble tea-tree oil tonic, good for minor bacteria or fungal infections and to prevent disease. It won't affect your filters and won't do any harm, even if it doesn't cure your fish.

Are you sure it was pregnant? There's a disease called... hold on a second...Dropsy. It makes your fish look fat and makes their scales stick out. Just a theory. You should do a water change and add some Melafix its good stuff.

Ouch. I've let my eyes get in the way of my thinking. I've seen some pretty guppies, but ended up dying cause I noticed the male didn't look too good cause he would hang by the filter of the shops aquarium, but I still got him anyways...

Uhh.. going out on a limb here.. but is your signature accurate? Your tank is four weeks old, ~ 15 gallons, and has all those fish in it? The guppy may well have died from nitrite poisoning. If you don't have a nitrite test, you might want to get one. If this is indeed true, I'd suggest you do a 25% water change now and 10 - 15% water changes daily until the nitrites drop off.
