Just yesterday, I seeded the Marina S10 filter for my Fluval Chi shrimp tank with ceramic rings and filter floss from my 20 gallon. The water was yesterday and still today a weird opaque whitish color. I figure it's just a bacterial bloom, but then again, this wierd white film was all over the glass and now starting on the java fern. I cleaned it off, but the weird part was that as I scrubbed it off, it appeared like milk was leeking into the water from the film.

Is it just an ordinary bacterial bloom, as I suspect? Or is something else in the works? I did a 80% water change, still cloudy. I have an itching suspition that it may be the work of the filter cartridge that came with the filter, it contains ammonia removing "Zeolite"....

Any ideas? Shrimp are perfectly fine, zipping around, swimming in the current, munching on the almond leaves...

Yeah, if you don't rinse the pads well, zeolite dust will go everywhere.

darn.... :/ I thought I gave it a good soak....Any idea when it should clear up? :good:
