i woke up this morning to find a thin white film on the water suface, i'm prity sure its just a bacterail bloom, but just wanted to cheque to cure my paranoia.

any thoughts please ( tank detail below) ????

No,that's not a bacterial bloom. That has something to do with too much protein I believe. Try adjusting your filter so you get more surface disturbance.

thanks for the reply.

would't u exspect to see an ammonia spike if it was excces protein?

whoutd it have anything to do with co2, i've just added a diy (suger and yeast)co2 system to inprove the growth of my plants.

or possably to much iron, or potasium? :dunno:

Better ask about all of that in plants  But, it probably does have something to do with your new system. Are you cycling your tank? If it's already cycled than I wouldn't worry about a bloom,it's probably because you've recently done something different, like your Co2 system.

But still,it's not an emergency and nothing to be alarmed about ;)

the tanks been going for a year now, and the fish wy wife bought me for valentines day. ide hate to lose them. better t cheque, and be safe rather than sorry

Just a heads up, keep an eye on your fish and make sure they're not breathing heavily until you get your new system stabilized and such. I don't do live plants but I know they often release Co2 at night when the lights go off for some scientific reason or another ( :*) ) so keep your eyes peeled on any and everything.

It's always good to be weary of things,so ask away  But I know a lot of the plant people don't frequent this forum, so I'm sure you'll have much better luck in the planted tank forum
