HI

I would like to know what people are using as background's? Are you using the backgrounds that you can buy from your lfs? My fish tank is facing a wall on the side and I find a background picture very dull and boring. I'm looking for new idea's. What do you think I should do?

I've got a plain blue background, as I'm keeping plants in the tank so didn't want one of those plant backgrounds. I think the contents of the tank always look best against a plain background anyway - but that's personal preference, we're all different! Certainly I think any background is better than none, as being able to see the wallpaper or anything else is a bit of a distraction IMO.

I prefer backgrounds. It gives a tank depth and who wants to see a wall on the other side of your tank anyway. Also I think it provides the fish with some security because they think they have something solid on one side. My Backgrounds are always LFS bought.

Same here. I agree with you. :D

I have a plain blue background and I love it. At my LFS it cost $3.99 a foot so instead I went to my local dollar store and bought a beautiful blue foil wrapping paper and attached it to the tank. I has gotten so many compliments and It only cost $1.00 for all I needed for my 4 1/2 foot tank

I also use a blue background (with a gradient) from a LFS. The other side is black, but although many people (especially those with planted tanks) seem to prefer that, I just don't like the look as much as the blue.

I use the fake rock backgrounds on a couple of my tanks. I recently put a mirrored back on my big tank and it looks really good. The fish can check themselves out and it makes the tank look even bigger :)

Hi Everyone,
Right now I have a solid blue background on my 30 gallon, with blue gravel (IMO its too much blue, since my living room is blue too :D ) so my plans are to turn it around to the black side, and put black gravel, to really bring out my cichlids colors.
On my 55 gallon i have a plant background. (its sooo funny watching my fish try to swim through the fake plants  )
on my 10 gallon I have a fake plant one.
and on both my betta tanks i have wall paper border, that has a picture of the ocean and dolphins jumping out of the ocean. (looks really cool!)

I'm thinking about buying an appropriate glass paint (bright blue or black) and painting the back of my glass, outside of course. I thought that this might give it some texture, even the brush strokes, or ....finger paints marks?! .... might be interesting. Has anyone ever tried this?
