Backgrounds

Yes, my father-in-law used a similar background. It looked very nice until he tried to clean the algae off it and rubbed too hard. The background now has small areas of white which spoils it. Probably his own fault being too heavy handed though!

Hi, these type of foam backgrounds in my opinion look far better than pictures (Picture in signiture is when new). Of course there are many types to suit all tastes and pocket. I have the very thick and sculptured Juwel 3D rock formation at £30 a slice which after a year or more has 'aged' nicely and looks very natural. The fish often nip at it like real rock. Personally, unlike the former poster, I would never attempt to clean it in any way.

As this type of background is usually fixed in place with aquatic silicone before setting up it is very important to consider your choice VERY carefully as changing it later would be a mammoth task!
