Im back after a break from owning fish. I am hoping to set up two beta tanks once my room is in order. I was wondering how i can change my username?

I've been wondering the same! I'm not much of a 'helper' anymore xD

I don't think you can without setting uo a while new account otherwise it would confuse all the posts you've previously made.
Tcamos would be the one to ask

Sorry, we only do name changes for very new members with almost no post count to speak up.

The only way to "close" an account is never to post on it again. It messes up threads, you see. If your account was deleted, then so would all your posts, meaning there would be holes in the threads.

I should also point out that we don't allow people to have multiple accounts. We want our members to know who they are communicating with, and if someone has lots of different accounts then others get confused. This is also the reason why we don't like members changing names.

So essentially I am stuck with this account? I understand the reasoning completely. Would it be ok if I just never posted on this account again and made a new one? and only be active on the other account?

Your best bet is to ask Tcamos if you can change your username, generally usernames are not changed.

Due to fact people may know you by now and recognise your name and your posts etc. So if you were to change username, this would cause confusions.

TLM and attibones have pointed out most of the reasons as well.

I just put it to the mods for a discussion and what they decide goes. In this case, based on experience, the situation doesn't meet our criteria for changing a name. The accounts are too old and have too many posts on them. As mentioned we don't allow multiple accounts. Depending on why the account was created we take one of two actions 1 we ban the member 2 we merge all the posts from the new account into the old account and delete the new account.

This is pretty common policy on forums in general.

ok. I know on a hamster forum I am apart of with this same layout you are permitted to change your user every 90 days. Ill be looking forward to seeing what they have to say :)
