Hey guys, don't know the last time I was on the forums here. Recently, I acquired a 55 US gallon tank. I gave her one of my 29 gallons, she needed a smaller tank and I have been after her 55 for years. Well, I took a well stocked 29, transfered into a 55 and its quite beautiful when there is no algea on the glass. Did a full day of cleaning today, got 2 60g Nutrafin Max flake food for 9 dollars, usually it 9 dollars for one. Also got a small net for my minnows.
Current Stock
1x Male Honduran Cichlid-4.5 inches
1x Female Honduran Cichlid-3.5 inches
3x Juvenile Honduran Red Points-2 inches
1x Female Convict Cichlid-3 inches
2x Black Jack Dempseys-Both-2 inches
2x Bolivian Rams
7x Bronze Corydoras-1 inch
2x Striped Rapheal Catfish-5 inches
1x Spotted Rapheal Catfish-3 inches
15x Mosquito Fish (Wild Guppies)-1 inch

No plants, just rocks, a piece of aspen drift wood, and 2 big pieces of Cedar Drift wood

The Adult Hondurans were a pair and the male likes the convict more. When I remove the Con, he goes to the Female Honduran. So I've had a couple convict x HRP fry batches, none survive due to my cleanings

I'd remove the female Convict personally. Nice to have another HRP fan on board!

Welcome back! :)

I got her as an impulse buy *slaps hand* Soon im getting my other 29 gallon running properly and moving her in. gonna riase fry in a 10 gallon soon as I get more babies, they last batch was umm...sucked into the siphon
I love the HRPs. At they lfs they had a male bred with a female cichlid that was yellow and they seperated the fry batch into two, one in the show tank with the parents and one raised in a hospital tank. Show tank babies look like Yellow Convicts, hopital batch are yellow with a black tail, no stripe o_O kinda strange

The 2 JDs are gonna have to go, the stocking needs alot of work.

The JD's are small ATM, and pretty soon Im getting an 80 US Gallon for them.

Ahh fair enough.

just a heads up, if they are black, chances are they both are female, i have never seen a black male, small males tend to look like small texas cichlids.

well, ones clearing up and turning a grey with bright green sprakles

Females have the majority of there spangles on there face/gill plate and tend to stay darker plus have rounded off anal fin, and imo prettier than the males.

If you have 2 females, one will 'grey out' a bit, a dominance thing.

A male will be mega spangled from top to bottom, have a pointy anal fin and be a lighter colour.

IMO female Jacks are the nicest looking, better than males, EBJDS, Golds etc

They are still young so idk how they will turn out. Also they gray one is defiantly the dominant one
