I have a friend who likes my sterbai cory frys and want to do the same, breed them, and now that they are big enough...i plan on giving him some. he wants to breed them like me, and he brought a 30 gallon for a sterbai species tank. the tank is like the height of a 55 gallon tank. and i have a few questions:

1. is 8 sterbai enough to make sure that there will be breeding cories? I can tell the gender..they are too small.

2. he plans on divinding the tank in 1/2 when the cories breed, and the other half to keep the fry. But is the water level to high?

thanks...

Hi kevin007 :)

How big are your babies?

Sterbai aren't the easiest corys to tell apart until they are quite mature. But 8 should be plenty to be sure he has some of both sexes.

I would suggest spawning the corys in a smaller tank. It's much easier to clean than the bigger one would be. If he would have fry, they could stay in it until they are big enough to go right in the big tank with the adults, providing there is no other fish that would bother them. :D

nope, it would be like a little cory paradise, i guess. I will have to ask him though..i dont think he will want another tank..but i'll try to convince him as i am afraid that the water level are gonna kill the fry when they try to take that gulp of air..or suffocate or... :S

and the cories are 3/4 inch :)
