hi all, i had an apple? snail that i cught in a lake in Pennsylvania and brought home to Flroida. Welll now i have babies, is the mother snail dead? she hasnt moved but she is out a little bit, i touched her but no movement...he color is a blueish...is she dead?

oh, and i didnt notice any eggs..

wellll she hadn't moved for a few days and lost her color and i knew she had died...so she's 'taken care of', now i have about 10 babies in my tank
why werent there any eggs? i did a search on Google and all the snails i saw on there had layed eggs...

From what I know.....apple snails lay their eggs just above the water line. They can sometimes be tricky to spot if they are tucked right up to the hud.

Sorry thats all I know!

if you only had one, it couldnt have been apple snails as they need 2 to breed...

you probably had an asexual snail, and all the babies will soon grow up and start reproducing also.. you will have tons of snails in no time

if you saw no eggs, it is probably asexual.. apple snails lay eggs above the water line.. maybe it is some mystery snail.. either way, asexual snails are great in my opinion.. they breed non stop and keep the tank clean !

Snails are known for breeding out of control. It definitely wasn't an apple snail, as these usually live in the tropics--certainly not in Pennsylvania. Personally, I do not like to keep snails--especially snails from the wild--in my aquariums, as they can sometimes carry parasitic diseases that may infect your fish.

By the way, there are some live-bearing snails, so that may be the case with yours.
