Last week I found a couple of baby assassins in my 200l.

Today I flick on the lights for my 80l cube and find this: https://flic.kr/p/zyftoW

If you look closely there's six assassins in that shot.  You can tell how tiny they are in comparison to the substrate.
I counted ten without even trying.  I thought these guys were slow to breed?

At least I won't have to buy any more snails for a while :)

:)

Great pic.

I have assassin snails as well, I started with two, have now at least 25 despite giving quite a few away over the last couple of years.

They ARE slow to breed, but only compared to pond and MTS snails

I love the fact these assassin lay single eggs and these eggs are square ;)

SQUARE?
That must hurt coming out...

Here's a pic of one of these square eggs from one of my assassins in my tank a while ago -

Okay so the egg itself is round, the "gel" (as I call it) is square. Still, though... One reason why eggs are round, is because it's the easiest way to get them out of... well.. any being that needs to get it "out". Square has GOT to be painful!

Oh.  I did wonder.  Having seen a large piece of bogwood covered in square eggs I think I'm in line for many, many more.

I wish we could have them in Australia........ I need to find a guy who knows a guy type of thing in Australia.

That's not good :(

I love these guys.  They're surprisingly quick little suckers too!

I guess importation of them is banned there?

I might have to see if I can find someone to sell them on to.  LFS won't give me cash for anything.  They usually go for £2.50-3 each, so if I have hundreds this could be a good way to fund more tanks lol
