OK woke up this morning and there seems to be a baby snail in my tank. Dont know if my Apple snail was pregnant or how it got there but its there. Was just wondering would I be ok keeping it as it is only the one or has it came from somewhere else and isnt my Apple Snails? And also would it be ok to put in my breeding trap (would it clean out some of the food at the bottom of it cause I currently have 19 Guppys born yesterday). Only got my Snail last week aswell.

Thank you.

If you never saw eggs and what your large snail truely is from the Ampullariidae family of apple snails, odds are that it is not an apple snail but is in fact a Physa species (or a Planorbid). If your large snail is in fact a Viviparid though, those bear live young. Viviparids are sometimes incorrectly sold as apple snails, although it is fairly rare. Google image search for "Viviparid" and see if it looks like your large snail, otherwise google search for "Physid" and "Planorbid" and see if you turn up a match. Those are two common hitchhiker species that many regard as pests due to their fast rate of multiplication if more than one is present in a tank.
