Hi I had three of my plecs die recently after using WS3 white spot treatment, has anyone else had problems with this treatment? Anyway I now have no plecs left in my tank, or so i thought, I noticed a baby plec about 3mm long clinging to my orandas tail, hes been there 2days now and i really dont want to chance one of the other fish taking a nibble or swallowing him whole, what would you suggest i do with him?

3mm long? Awwwwwwwwww thats so cute! I wouldnt think the chances another fish would eat it because its a plec but the chances are always there. I would have thought he'd stay hidden for a while.
There isnt really much to do because you cant put him in a spareaquarium because he might starve to death. If you fed him algea flakes and all that, he may eat them but they are gonna be bigger than him lol

Thats exactly what im thinking, he seems to be the only one in there and he obviously has no older plecs around now so im a bit worried for it, if i could take a picture of it for u i would but its really that small!! I have algae tablets that slowly disolve and coat the inside of the tank, i was going to see about a quarantine tank to place inside the fish tank stuck to one side? but they have slats in them which he'd easily escape through, if he did hide id most likely worry more i think

I know what you mean. Well why dont you try, if you have one, a spare tank and try coating the inside with algea with the tablets? How long does it take? Ive never tried it so I havent got a clue about it. Then maybe you could put the baby fish in there intil he's old enough to not be eaten.

What are the other fish in the tank?

If another fish did go to eat him/her, I'm pretty sure he'd be able to swim out of the way in enough time so the fish wouldnt even see it go, just get a mouth of gravel (or fish tail if he's still on that fishes tail :D )

I have two orandas and two pearl scales, he's attached himself to one of the orandas tails and seems quite happy to stay there for now but maybe i will prep another tank for him just so i can keep an eye on it

Hi,

What kind of plecs did you have? It seems a bit odd that its attached to the orandas tail are you sure its not a fish louse. My baby bristlenose plecs tend to stay on the bog wood until they get to a couple of centimeters long then they are all over the tank. Do you have any pics?

Emma :)
