just got 5 silver baby mollies, so cute  anyway, just put them in and they are getting chased really bad by my tiger barb :( , i dont know what to do, havent got another tank to put them in, feel bad that i cant do anything, help please

Oh man tiger barbs are one of the worst things you could have with baby mollies...Although the barbs may be small they can fit a suprising amount of food in their mouth....how old are the babies as of right now (in weeks). The only advice i can give you is to find another small tank and fast.

I've just had a similar problem, not with barbs, but with having to find a tank fast...I went to pets at home and they had glass 3g's for £9.99....can hardly beat it and you have a new home for your babies..! :D

otherwise..are they too big to fit in a breeding tray...?

I have got mine a clear plastic tray, about 5" deep and 10" long from there...would they fit in one of those (they're even cheaper than the tank!)

or, you're in staffordshire, need me to hang on to them in my molly tank till you get yourself sorted?

i got the fish about an hour ago, i think they could be a month old not even half an inch long, i havent got another tank or bowl, they are soo cool, ive had them for an hour and the eat from my hand already :) i dont want the fish to become tiger barb food :-(

in my house i found a 3 gallon black bucket, would that be suitable for a few hours? if so i can run to my bros house and borrow his 7 gallon tank

any medium sized bowl with an airstone in it will work for a short period of time if you are getting another tank. when my mollies have babies i usually put them in a bowl until i've found them all....If they seem fast enough to get away and aren't at the usual 1-2 cm in size i think they should be fine, but you never know with tiger barbs (crazy fellers)

i probably wont be able to get another home for them untill tommorow, any by then they will probably be dead with all the chasing, wotever i do its gonna be risky

do you have any kind of spare heater...?

If so you might be able to keep them in the busket overnight, if you can go tomorrow morning, but may be abit risky..?

or some way of deviding the tank with the barbs in..?

well i decided to leave the baby mollies in the big tank over night, nothing happened to them, they look happy and playful :D so i guess they are ok now

phew.....thats good to hear! :D

don't like to see babies and their loving parents and grandparents in distress...

good luck raising them to adulthood! :D

yes it should be fun to watch them grow up, hopefully i can breed them, i got 3females/2males so hopefully more babies :) , cant wait till they breed, never breeded fish before :p

 you'll definately see more babies. i have 2 females and one male and one has had babies, the other will have babies any day now, and the first one that had babies is pregnant again.
