i used to have hundreds of baby guppies but everytime i changed the water they keep dying an dnow i have about 5 left and they don't look good.
pls help ........

i used the water from my big fish tank .i used to have them in a jar but now i bought this breeding trap. when can i change the water ? how many times a week? pls help me cause i wanna buy some more pregnant livebearers like guppies and molly and i wanna do it right the next time... thank you

When you are doing a water change, you always want to put fresh dechlorinated water. Adding dirty tank water seems counter-productive.

Also make sure that the water you are adding is the same temperature as the water that they are in. If it is too dif. they can die from the shock.

Hi there,
Do you currently have these guppies in a jar and are changing their water with the water from your big tank? Where is the breeder trap. What is your setup like? More details, and we could help you mmore?
If you are going to keep livebearers then you need to get started the correct way in cycled, filtered water.

At times I've often done guppy fry water changes using other tank water. I feel its best as its mature water. But I also use dechlorenated tap water too.

In a trap/fry tank chances are you have a lot smaller volume of water, so if the water you are adding is only a few degrees F off from what they are used to it will shock them.

i used to have them in a jar but now i bought this breeder trap and put it on my big fish tank and now their looking good. their about 3 weeks old and can i feed them them colour enhancing flakes. i never get the chance to buy baby brine shrimp yet.
when i add new water with the same temperature ......about 50% of the water change do i still need to put conditioner ?????

: ) thank u for all ur help .............
