With livebearer fish like mollies, platys ets, when they have babies, what do you do with them? My mom's mollies just had babies, and she asked me what to do, and I have no clue what to tell her.

Will the pet store take them, or are you now stuck with a larger family?

Thanks!! :fun:

Er... it really depends on the individual shop. Chains are not known for doing it but independents might.

The molly will have fry monthly from now on so you might be best to advise you mum to give away the male(s) if you don't know what to do with fry.

I have been keeping my fry in male and female only tanks so i dont get more fry with the fry. I'm selling mine to indivuals over my radio station and my lfs take the fry i don't want for free.
Another route could be to just leave the babies in the community tank the parents(or other fish) will probably eat them. I've been trying to do this now, but i guess they're full :X

This might not stop the fry from coming, because the females can store the sperm and re-impregnate themselves several times.
