Just spotted our first baby shrimp! :D (Thanks drewry!!!) There's loads of Java moss in the tank, so could be lots of others hiding.

Any advice on how best to care for them would be gratefully received. They're in a 28 litre tank, about 15-20 adult shrimp, and a single 'black oto'. I've been feeding them bits of algae wafers, the occasional pea, the odd bit of flake and bits of sinking pellets. They seem to graze on the (abundant) algae on the plants too.

I don't know anything about raising shrimplets, but just wanted to say...

CONGRATULATIONS! :good: :hyper:

You must be really excited!

I don't do anything special for shrimplets, they eat algae and other micro-organisms on the plants and decor. The adults wont harm them so you may even see some shrimplets trying their food.

Otos are shrimplet safe too so no worries about them being eaten.

If they're breeding it means the conditions suit them, so I wouldn't change anything because you have seen babies, they must like it how it is.

Congrats on the babies, always good to see them for the first time.

Thanks for the reassurance! We've now seen 4 at once - they're so TINY!!! We'd lost 3 adults, on separate occasions, for no apparent reason (possibly our tap water, possibly the platy fry who used to share the tank with them), so I guess I'm a bit anxious... My daughter is really excited and wants to invite all her friends round to see them.
