Hello, I was just wondering if anyone had one of these, and if they would be ok for a male?
Thank you.

Oh thank you. That is good to know. I didn't want to get one if they aren't very good for the fish. Do you have a heater in yours out of interest? Also sorry to be a pain, but could you see him ok in it? I always worry that they may look distorted due to it being round if you know what I mean?!

Hi

Yes I had a heater in it, You could see him fine. I bought a new tank which is why I changed.

Have you got any bettas at the mo?

Becky

I have my HM in a baby biorb and he has 2 snails for 'company'

He loves his own domain, but I'd advise keeping a close eye on the water parameters it being only 15l of water :D

This was Brucie's tank before I got the HM

Thank you for your replies.
Tropical Girl - I have two boys at the moment they are in 3 gallon plastic tanks - one in the bedroom and one in the kitchen, both are filtered and heated. My husband has agreed to me having my dream yellow betta in the lounge, but I have to have a nice looking tank as it will be more on display, and I thought these looked quite cool, but I just wanted to check they would be ok for the fish. How many do you have.
Jennybugs thank you so much for the picture it gives me a much clearer idea of what they look like. I do regular water changes for my other boys so that won't be a problem. You can see the fish really well, which was one of my concerns, and I can get a little heater in so that is ok. He looks adorable in there.

Personally I am a huge fan of the Biorbs and am just about to go to pick up another one that's 60L!

There's alot of negativity about them but I say don't knock them til you've tried them :D

Don't forget picks when it's cycled and the fish is in residence :D

Thank you, that's really good to hear. You have persuaded me that this is the way to go. I will be purchasing the BiOrb shortly.
Then I can get it running and cycling ready for my baby - when I find him that is!
Of course I will post pictures for you. You have made me very happy and excited.
I will have to show off my two other beautiful boys too.

Sorry but i just had to add that you don't really need to cycle the tank for Bettas as they are air breathers so as long as the water is dechlorinated the lil guy can go straight in and the tank can do its cycle with him in it. They do look lovely and i have been tempted myself

My first BiOrb was a baby for my red boy Rhubarb, I bought it just so I could buy him lol. He loved it. I then upgraded it via Ebay to a 30l and he loved it even more. I then moved him into his own little pad and put the girls into the 30L BoOrb, I personally think they are super.

Thank you Devon-Charm, I have to say I didn't cycle my other two boys tanks as they were a bit rushed, due to me seeing them and buying them. I did put cycled sponge from my big tank in there filters though. So I may do this again.
That makes it even more exciting though as it means if I see him I can just get him - although I may have to wait for KG Bettas or a breeder as we don't really have any good fish shops that sell the different betta types and colours.
I know I am very lucky, I can't stop smiling.
Thank you everyone.

I thought cycling the tank has nothing to do with the fish's breathing; isn't it so enough bacteria are present to deal with harmful ammonia and nitrites produced by fish waste? Otherwise I'd have got mine weeks ago!

Yes it is all to do with the amonia but because the betta goes to the surface to intake air instead of filtering it out from the water it doesn't intake the amonia, you still need to do regular water changes though. But no cycling is required

Ahh - I thought it was damaging to the outside, but that makes sense.

Which means I can get a Baby Biorb for my bedroom NOW!! :yahoo:

After a bit more research.
