Have been reading bits on different websites about them but need to know a little more on looking after them and their requirements, First hand knowledge would be great if anyone has one.

What do you want to know ?

They will eat anything meaty could live in somthing 2 long x 15 wide x 12 wide for life but bigger is better. A filter is a good idea since they are very messy.

Do NOT keep with fish otherwise your fish will start to go missing.

Keep at room temperature.

Hi Boxa

I have an Axolotl, although I haven't had him very long.

Although they say to keep them away from other fish, but can be kept with another Axolotl, I actually keep mine with a BN pleco. They get on fine, but I do keep an eye on them in case of any domestics!!

Do you have yours yet?

Just that sorting of thing, more the basics and anything to watch out for or any little tips for keeping them in good health, with regards the tank I have 2spare tanks at moment, one is 18" long and the other is 24" but the 18" is deeper now one is going to be for the Axolotl and the other for a terrapin which tank is going to be best for the Axy the longer one or the deeper one. I know the bigger the better and eventually he will be in a bigger tank but for the moment..

Yeah I saw that in another post you made I was gonna make a comment on that because my one I will be picking up tomorrow from East Sussex has already been named bob too B)

Oooo that is quite spooky really! :sly:

I have a white one with black eyes and dark pink gills. I did my research like you, but i have questions too!

There doesn't seem to be many people on here with Axolotls?! Are they not that popular? I had to have one as soon as I saw it!! Amazing amphibian!

What shop are you getting yours from? I bought mine on the coast, in Worthing.

He doesnt seem to wanna eat though....I have tried lots of different types of food. He might still be settling in, but i havent seen him take a mere bite yet, which is becoming worrying. He looks fine though, and has periods of being quite active. Any ideas?

Thanks

Hello every one i keep axolotls i have 3 one of wich was rescued and i also breed axolotls i also advise u go to caudata and join up it is a very good site but if u have any questions u want to ask me go ahead and i think the longer tank will be better because they are mostly bottom dwellers so i would go for the tank with the more floor area so if u have any other questions ask away
