Well are they??.... I intend to get a few of them, but are they easy to keep and/or breed??...

Any info to help me make up my mind.

Lovely pets and get tame enough to handfeed -get them
Easy to keep if you can get hold of fresh live earthworms. Also eat chopped slugs, frozen bloodworm and catfish pellets. Coldwater but otherwise same care as fish.Only have one myself so don't haev breeding experience but lots of people sell eggs on UK bay. Beginners successfully raise the tadpoles to maturity, person i got mune from reared him from an egg with his brothers but you need brine shrimp for tiny axos.

from another site I have heard that keeping the tank cool enough is often a struggle - - in the summer months the axolotls often live in the refrigerator in a container of water.

caudata (in my footer)

is a brilliant site for axolotls :)

Also caudata have a classified section where you might be able to pick up some if you were interested.

Per axolotl, you need a minimum of a 2 foot tank (bearing in mind they can grow to a foot long); I would think 3 foot would be better and then an extra foot per axolotl.

You'll find everything you need to know on caudata (I use it a lot for newt related stuff and it's proved very helpful).

Depends where you live I guess. Got my Axo this summer and he was fine indoors but I'm in London and it rarely gets hot here even in July. They don;t need to be kept in ice cold water. The fridge seems far too colld! 15-17' is fine for them
