I'll be away from my tank for a week while on spring break and I'm worried about my two little dwarf puffers.

The other 3 rasboras should be fine because they'll eat anything and I'll put one of those 7 day feeder things in there. If you think that's a good idea? Or do they mess up your chemicals, etc?

But the puffers don't seem to eat anything but the frozen bloodworms I give them (thawed first, of course :)). And even then they like to have me feed them by hand (I use a toothbrush to place it right in front of them. Yes, they are spoiled :D ).

So what should I do? Will they be ok for 9 full days without me??? If not, what should i do?

And while we're on the subject of feeding, how often should I feed the puffers? They usually eat about one worm at a time, but the rest of the time they act like they're still hungry and swim around pecking at the gravel as if looking for food?

All your help is much appreciated. I leave on thursday, so it'd be best to know something by then, thanks!

Scott

PS I've been lurking for awhile, but this is my first post.

I wish i could help you as you dont apear to have had any replies yet - I am new myself. Maybe the only thing you can do is to get someone to come round and feed them for you? Or perhaps you can get one of those time-delayed, rotating feeding devices that sit on the top of your tank? I dont know how effective they are though.

Yea, I wish there was somebody who could come feed them, but I'm in a college dorm so everybody is gone for spring break.

Problem with those rotating feeders is that they don't do frozen/live foods that the puffers eat. I'm going to let the 3 rasboras eat off one of those disolving vacation feeders...

I've come up with a plan for the puffers, anybody agree or disagree? I went to petsmart and got about a dozen or so of their pesky snails from them that they don't want and I will add them to the tank. Hopefully they'll multiply enough before they're eaten to provide unlimited food? I decided to test to see if the puffers liked snails so i put one on each end of the tank (1 per puffer) and within 30 seconds they were devoured (after much thrashing and throwing of shells). So, I guess they liked them.

They're so cute when they eat them

Also, I want to get y'alls opinion on adding live brine shrimp to the tank right before I leave. If I add too many to the tank will the shrimp live to be eaten another day or will they just die and rot, ruining my tank? I could grow some shrimp and then put a lot in there, but don't know if that would be bad (never used live brine shrimp before). Thanks for y'alls help on this!
