hey guys,
basically i want to attach some bogwood to the back piece of glass of the tank, and firstly i wanted to know if silicone could hold wood. the wood itself isn't heavy but obviously i don't want it falling on the fish. i would like to know the silicone that you would recommend to use and the strongest.

I have seen bogwood stuck to glass with suckers screwed into the bogwood. You could perhaps screw suckers into the wood using stainless screws then silicone the sucker to the glass. Ordinary aquarium silicone should do the job.

I agree - try the suckers screwed to the wood - then if you don't like it at any time in the future it is easy to remove.

If you really must use silicone - it will hold the wood in place if you use enough of it (it holds your tank together!) but you will need to reduce the water level in the tank and dry the area you are sticking it to thoroughly. You will also need to find some way of supporting/holding it in place until the silicone cures. Don't refill the tank until the silicone is fully cured (about 1 day per cm of silicone)

HTH

thanks guys i will try the sucker method first. do you know if anyone or company sells suckers that are designed to be drilled into the wood.

Pretty sure you can use normal suckers and just make a hole in them and screw through the middle into the wood :good:
