Anyone have an idea? I would love to get it out. I have roughly 20-25 kilos of LR, which I will add to in the coming months to fix the aquascape. I also have a mature sand bed. Does anyone know an advisable stage to remove a skimmer, apart from the obvious "Never" .

One will be placed in a sump, but when that is gonna happen i dont know. :look:

It can comeout at any time but what are your reasons for removing it when you can simply rehouse it in the sump when its connected?

The reason being the sump is non existant at the moment, and i dont know when i will get one built.

I was wondering if my system would degrade because of its removal, or would LR help with the process of nutrient removal sufficient enough for my corals etc and the health of my tank UNTIL i can get a sump.

Mr M if you do remove the skimmer you will need some way to export the proteins that will remain in your tank, Why are you looking to remove the skimmer any way

Imust admit that i was a firm beleiver in not using a skimmer when running my mud tank. However i now see that running it alongside a good skimmer makes a huge difference on on nutrients. I would recomend you keep it and when hte sump is running then house it down there where its out of sight.

I agree, keep the skimmer on the tank, the crap it pulls out is so important to filtration, to take it off the tank for a long period of time will mean more work with more water changes and a closer eye on feedings.

Ok, wil leave it in. The reaosn, it looks dam ugly! And i wanna change the aquascape. But ill re-arange my 'schedule' of events. Thanks guys! B)
