Hi,

as some of you will know i have cory fry from my gold and green stripes, the oldest being about 8/9 weeks old and the biggest being about an inch in total length including fins.
i am still doing daily water changes for their growing out tank of about 15% but is this still required now they are 2 months old? i dont mind doing it but if i could do it every other day, say 30% 2x a week instead it will free up some time and save on dechlor.....
if its still required at what age do you normally start to do less frequent water changes?
like i said i dont mind doing them and the fishes health comes first but if its not really needed then i will lay off a bit.
ive been doing 15% changes for the last 2/3 weeks or so reduced from 50% as they seemed to be doing fine and growing well :good:

I'm no expert but i reckon you could slow down on the w/c now,i was thinking that my original juvi's went into the tank at 8 weeks old and the last juvi was 4 weeks old they obviously only have a w/c once a week in the main tank :)

If thats any help...

yeah thats what i thought. but do i just leave it for a week or reduce it gradually so they get used to it more........? or am i just being paranoid! :look:

If you're feeling paranoid doing it gradually... :fun: ;)

I think corys do know a routine, well mine do,has soon has i turn the tank lights off, they line up along the front of the tank because they know they get sinking wafers  ,this habit i got into a while back has the livebearers use to nab their food,so i started giving this to the corys at night, well some of the livebearers i've sold now but they still get their wafers

I keep doing daily water changes as long as they are in a small tank. Once I move them up to the 55 gallon grow out there is a smaller fish to water ration and it's too hard to keep dragging out the python every day.

In general, they seem to grow faster in the 10 gallon with daily water changes than in the big tank with weekly ones. This is not just a matter of removing uneaten food, but of keeping the level of a growth hormone they produce low. I have a 3 1/2 month old batch of albino C. aeneus that I plan to take to auction at the aquarium club meeting on Friday night and I am still doing water changes so they grow as fast as possible and I can get rid of some of them. The same goes for some C. pandas I'm raising.

what % changes would you suggest? they are currently in a 2 foot 65L tank and im doing roughly 15% daily changes and 30% 2x a week, is this enough or should it be more?
