Asking If A Tank Is Needed For Breeding

i have a filter and a heater but i dont have a breeding tank for them i was thinking instead of useing a tank i may use this big plastic box i have (if it was glass it would be the same as a tank ) ...........i guess it would be okay right?im ask just to be shore they are not going to die when i put them in there

I'm sorry, what are you putting in there? It would be fine for eggs and new fry with an airstone and heater. If you have a filter and heater, it would be fine for spawning. But can you just harvest the eggs from the cory's tank and put them in the plastic box--unless they are a mix of cories and they are "mixing it up" or they are not spawning in their present tank.

well i was planing on puting my bronze cory in there just till they had eggs then take the parents out and wait for the eggs to hatch i cant breed ithem in my main tanks cuz theres to many other fish that would eat cory babys and probley the eggs ......................oh anuther qestion you cant breed the Corydoras aeneus typ with the Corydoras sterbai can you ? ......

They might, never know. Probably not a good plan. The C.aeneus will lay their eggs all over the tank. It is possible to harvest the eggs and move them. Quite easy with aeneus actually. But if you want to move them to breed, it's good. When the eggs are layed, remove the parents and filter, and put in an airstone. Make sure you have the rest of the supplies needed. Primary, make sure you have food for the fry ready to go.

hmmm Well regular 10 usg is 20" x 10" x 12", so less than 10 usg. How many bronze cories again? You probably could put 5 if the filter is cycled. If not start running it on a stocked tank. I might be stretching it to put 5 in.

i thort maby 4 or 5 of the bronze cuz i only have 5 of the bronze typ 2 of them im shore are female cuz there realy big and fat and most of the time thats what the females look like right?,,,,,,,,i have 4 difrent typs of cory they hang out with each other but i only have 2 of each other then the bronze i have 5 of them oh wait thats wrong 2 of my cory died a bit back i had 6 bronze then now i have 5 and only 2 of the 3 others typs have 2 now the other 1 only has 1 i plan on geting a few more near xmas sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hows that

ok your box has more sq inches than a 10 usg. (12"x12"x18"=2592 sq inches, 10"x12"x20"=2400 sq inches.) So 5 bronze cories should work. I got lost in the looong sentence.

sighs i would do that if i could periods full stops and other dot like things i could not add right evan if my life was on the line i try to give peepl a chance to breath by doing this .................some times thats why peeply tend to think english is not my spoken Language sighs hmmm i have a black shark in with some of my cory watching to see what happens ............the cory seem to stay clear of the shark the shark is growing fast

That's ok, like i said I can ask if I need to. Not sure sharks and cories are a good mix--for the cories. At the very least it might stress them out.

i no i thort i would see how u would react if i tryed some thing crazy mind u i do have a black shark i plan on trying to get it to grew 2 foot so im going to get a realy big fish tank next year when i move out of here ........oh i did put the cory in with the shark when i first got the shark he did not attack them but he would follow them rownd so i moved them to my gourami tank .................its realy hot here at the moment theres a lot of thunder in the sky ...............................................................................................................................................................................................................i think all corys should be call crazy fish for 2 reasons one every one is crazy about them and 2 they act crazy half the time one of mine at night seems to like swiming up the side of the glass till he hits the top of the water then shoots strate down under a rock or in a cave and looks out from there he or she seem to do that at least once a week i think its a bit funny in the head
