Well, after 3 months of using real plants in my 55 gallon freshwater tank, I decided to use artificial plants.

I realized I don't have the time to properly maintain real plants, and to be honest....its a pain in the butt.

So I have a couple of requests..

1. Can anyone using artificial plants post a picture of their set up?

2. What brand of artificial plants do most of you use? (I've seen those "silk" plants and they look very realistic)

Thanks!
dave

I don't have a pic yet, but i will recommend the silk plants. They look very real in the tank, and most have a wire in the stem so you can position it where you like. You will be happy with em methinks ;)

I used silks until I converted to live plants. they look great (much better than the little plastic jobs) but the edges will get frayed if you have fish that clean the tank. ie: plecs, rainbow sharks, cory's etc. as they suck the algae off of the plant they loosen the edges until they frey. it won't happen right away, but over the course of a year or so you may need to replace some.

SecondNature makes a bunch of fake plants. I buy those. I have about 5 or six different kinds and different heights. I think they look pretty good. Can't think of what kinds I have. I know I have one amazon swordplant. I think they make a good product. Now I think I have too many of them when I get all of my rock in there. It is good to get different sizes too. Have fun. Sorry, no pics yet. Maybe sometime soon.

For what its worth, here are pics of my tank. all plants are fake. I'll find out the make tomorrow for you.
