just curious if anyone has any info on these guys aside from them being aggressive and need 30+ gallons. My LFS just got one in on trade in and it's awesome.

Also I've never had a puffer so if these aren't a good one to start out with it would be good to know that now before I make any plans for acquiring one. thanks :D

They'll need a sand substrate, a fully cycled tank (no ammonia or nitrite whatsoever) and won't be able to be kept with naything else. they'll need to eat only frozen food (no flake!) and will be an ambush predator so won't move around too much.
Enjoy!

As Fellas has said really.
This species is an ambush killer and will generally have a go at anything in the tank. The species is best kept alone. They are abit more active when they are younger but spend most of the time resting on the bottom as they age. As they mature they will only require feeding once or twice a week.
I find sand is not essential but provide overhangs or caves in the tank for shelter/hiding.Some will bury some will not.
A well filtered, matured cycled tank is required.
Feed mussel, kril, cockles and prawn etc.
