I was at one of my local fish stores the other day and they had a juvanile arowanna for sale. I've hered of arrowans reaching 7ft in the wild, but I knew they probablywould not reach that size in an aquarium. So I asked the people at the pets store if I could put one in a 30 gallon tank, thinking no, but to my surprise they said yes. They said It's like a gold fish they will grow to the size of thier living space.

I had enough money to buy it, but I wanted to wait to I find out enough information about them before making the purchase. I don't really trust that pet store anyway. -_-

If some one could shine the light on weather that is true or not I would really appreciate it. :D

No deftinly not. The arowanna will grow out of that tank so fast

Black Arowanna can grow almost 3 feet, so they cant stay in a 30 gallon tank, maybe try a 125 gallon

I wouldn't get an arowana unless i have a humungus tank to put it in.. I think a fully grown arowana would need a 200 Gallon tank....

A the smallest arowanna will approach 3 ft

B find a better fish store that ones only after your money-Anne

Arowanas have rapid growth rates so a 30g could only house one for 3 or 4 months at most, really the minimum to even start growing a arowana out in is a 75g and then move it into a 180g minimum once it has reached over 12", all the species will reach at least 24" in captivity and larger is very likely.

As CFC has said the minimum tank size for a fish once it reaches 12" is a 6x2x2 tank of 180gallons and they reach this size pretty fast believe me.

As for growing to their enviorments, thats a load of rubbish and Goldfish don't do it either so unless you can upgrade to house the Arowana I wouldn't buy. :)
