Today i saw an arowana which looked like a silver but had a black line across the body and i dont no what kind it is does anybody no anything about these or what they are called?

it might of been a black arowana.

when young they can have stripes.

how big was it?

also were it's fins the same as a silver or were they more like the fins on my arowana in my sig?

also how much was it, this often a good guild on them.

they were £15 but the shop who had ordered them had been sent the wrong ones but on the invoice it said silver so im not sure what they were also it was 4" and it had yellow antler things near its mouth

Was this the fish?

This is a young Black Arowana. As they grow they body gradually turns from black to grey to a darkish shade of silver, the best fish will have a blue hue colouration.

im thinking about buying it and growing it on and selling it. do you no how much these could bring in.

4ftx18"x18" and yes about the water also do you no how much i could sell it for when it gets to big for the tank

Thats about the right price, I got mine for £10, larger ones are harder to move and unless your lucky to find a good hobbyist or shop that will pay you a decent price, normally you have to settle for a poor price, you have to remember the shop or hobbyist is doing you a favour taking in a fish you can't house and they normally know this and use it to their advantage. :) A good 6" fish will go for anywhere between £50-£80 depending on the area. However, young Black Arowanas are hard to raise, ideally they need to be the sole focus of their tank and will require hand feeding at first. Mine took bloodworms one at a time floated by surface tension and some small live insects, feed them 2-4 times a day to get them growing well. Then you need to get them onto Hikari Arowana or Carnivore pellets as soon as possible, breaking them up so they can take them. Once they are on to these feeding is easy and they're colours will really come out. :)

If you are buying the fish to sell on later, I don't think the Black Arowana is a good option. You have to consider what you have paid upfront for it plus all the money you put into raising, then you have a tough job to try and find someone to pay you a good price.

Wow I really thought there more expensive than that.

also young specimens like that might still have the yoke sac to absorbed.

never buy an arowana that still has a vissible yoke sack, at this time they are extremely delicate.

if your after some dosh you need to find a really good bargain or a very rare fish and be prepared to pay a bit for it atfirst.
