I have had my pearl Arowana for a couple of weeks now its around 7" at the moment and has been feeding on Krill and dried bloodworm.
I have just got some live crickets for it though but am stuck with a problem! - how the hell do i get a cricket out of the box without having another twenty or so jumping around my house. I have also got some mealworm which are a bit easier to handle and only last a matter of seconds in the tank.

Haha, I remember that problem when my brother had a lizard. Can't remember if we ever solved it, though I think we used to only open one side of the tub and reach in with fingers.

Ya just lift 1 corner a littleand poke 2 fingers in to grab one :) I remember i sued to have them for my tree frogs (many years ago), i walke out of my room holding the box, tripped and spilt the entire contents on the landing, no surprise we were finding them around the place for weeks to follow.

id give the crickets a miss, they will climb out of the tank and breed in your house and sing constantly all night.
stick to locusts they dont sing and they are stupid,if they escape they just climb up the wall where you can see them

Yeah crickets are a nuisence, my mrs breeds a few gecko species and i'm always finding crickets loose around the house.

Can't you feed morio or giant mealworms?
I bought two big tubs for the crix and locusts and they can't jump out, and its really easy to pick up a small bit of the egg crate from the box with crickets on, shove it in a bag and shake until you have enough in the bag.

livefoods cricket trap is great for that, in two weeks the whole thing was covered in crickets :S ..That was just my room :X

We're used to them now and the cat eats any that she sees.

Had a go at feeding them last night, it wasn't as bad as what i thought. I just lifted a corner and flicked the bottom until a few fell out into the tank.
I got some waxworms as well - i don't know if anyone else uses these but they are a good size for a small Aro the only problem i had was making sure the Oscar shared the food. It must have had half a dozen of each until it was full :good:

Haha this thread is quite funny now !

Cos i brought some locusts for my Oscar and the dog has knocked the bloody tub over now i'm finding them all over my room :D
