is the sand they sell in argos ,described as kids sand any good for a tropical fish tank or not, also is it very easy to keep clean or not thanks for any replies

Never used the Toys R Us stuff, but the 2 bags I got from Argos weren't too bad - just rinsed it through a couple of times and it was good to go =)
I guess it could vary on a per batch basis of how much silt you find though.

i got mine from pets at home...£3.48
i thought that was a good price...but saying that have never had sand before???

how much did everyone get theres for???

the plants are good at pets at home shame for the staff they cant even label the correct fish name or requirements for them also fish are always dead in there

i payed £1:45 for 15kg of white aquarium Silica sand in watermarque...same price in Taunton Aquarium Center.

However the stuff is a nightmare to keep clean, and it compacts inside a couple of days so constantly having to run your fingers through it.

Also if you use a gravel hoover on it,it sucks out the sand to so i gave up and just use black gravel with a black background now, doesent look as bright but the tank itself looks brighter.

as for P@H the great thing baout that store is the idiots havent got a clue on fish names or value so you could pick up some real bargains, then on the other hand they can try and sell you a neon tetra as a cichlid for £10 :p lol

pets@home stock pettex gravel and sand whats pricey iirc £16-18 for 8 kg bag there are some bargins esp bog wood got a 5-6kg piece for £4.95 Lfs wanted £20-25 for the same thing

i refuse to go in there due the the lack of care and attitudes of the staff. I would rather pay a little less and put the my money in the pockets of a small business
